Wind postpones Women’s GS in Arber-Zwiesel
Fierce winds in Arber-Zwiesel, Germany have forced officials to postpone a women’s World Cup GS that was scheduled here today (Feb. 5). The race was delayed then pushed to tomorrow as gusts refused to quit and fog filled the area.
Tomorrow’s forecast looks slightly more favorable as organizers with try to squeeze the race in (first run 9:15, second run 12:15 CET) before the FIS World Championships begin on Tuesday in Garmisch, Germany.
“There was no chance this thing was going to happen today. The panels were laying flat on the ground, the gondola was running at slow speed and there was a ton of fog,” said U.S. coach Trevor Wagner. “It’s going to be an early morning tomorrow for all of us, but our plan will stay the same.”
