Anna Swenn-Larsson tests positive for COVID-19
On Wednesday, Anna Swenn-Larsson was informed she tested positive for COVID-19. She was on her way to training camp in Europe when she received the message.
The slalom specialist is currently recovering in Åre, Sweden, where she has been since returning home from the World Cup in Levi, Finland. At that event, Swenn-Larsson was unable to compete due to a positive COVID test among the Swedish staff.
“It is a bit difficult to take in,” she said, “can not really see when I have been infected, have more or less been isolated or been at a proper distance from people I have met.”
Immediately after returning from Levi, Swenn-Larsson did a PCR test, which was negative. She has since been in Åre, trained and kept her distance from her surroundings, according to a team statement.
The next World Cup competition for Swenn-Larsson is Dec. 28-29 in Semmering, Austria.
“Yes, if we look at it that way, the opportunity may be good. There may be time to get well, then I had a conversation with Christian Thoma about a plan with training and preparations for Semmering, so it should still be able to work,” she said.
Swenn-Larsson said she does not have any symptoms.
“But I am happy and grateful for that and I hope it can continue like this. It is clearly worse for everyone who gets seriously ill in this pandemic, hopefully this is something that can pass quite quickly,” she said.
Recently, the Swedish slalom ladies have been at home and managed training on their own, the team said. Next on the agenda was a camp in Cervinia, Italy starting Dec. 4, which Swenn-Larsson will now have to miss.
“In this situation, it is difficult to look far ahead, first and foremost I must get well and test negative before I can do anything,” she said. “When that day comes, we will see where in the time we are and then we will continue to work from there.”
